The Early Years Foundation Stage is where your child begins their school journey. We aim to make your child’s first experiences of school fun and engaging whilst developing their ability to follow routines and rules. In Reception, we use Seesaw to inform you and share with you what your child will be learning in school. We also update you on what we have been doing through Facebook.

Home-School Learning in Reception
- Children in FS2 receive phonics based reading books for them to read and a library book for you to read to them. We expect them to read at least 5 times a week. Please talk about the illustrations in detail and discuss what is happening in the story. Please log this in your child’s reading record.
- In addition, we send home a weekly newsletter informing you of what we have been learning at school and ideas of how you can reinforce this at home. Every child receives a home-school learning book to record their learning at home in.
- Please refer to the website links below for online games that will support your child’s learning. Children in FS2 receive a ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’ log in to play this online phonics game at home.
