Early Years Foundation (Reception)
The Early Years Foundation Stage is the period of education from age 0 – 5. In school, this includes the EYFS Year 1 (Nursery) and EYFS Year 2 (Reception). It is called the Early Years Foundation Stage because it gives children secure foundations for later learning. This period is a distinct stag with its own early learning goals in basic skills. Most children should be able to reach the majority of these goals by the end of the Foundation Stage.
Early experiences affect children’s attitudes toward learning. They create the basis for later learning, in school and beyond and are therefore extremely important.
