Spring Term
Spring 1:
Instructions – Making Toast
In our English lessons this week, 1OG have been learning all about Instructions. We have had to follow instructions to make some yummy toast! After following all the instructions, making sure we followed each step carefully, we got to eat it! Mmmm lovely! Check back for some more photos!
Healthy Eating – Visit from the School Nurse – Funny Face Sandwiches
Today we had another keeping healthy lesson. We learnt about some of the different organs and parts of our bodies and their functions! We also spoke about the importance of exercise and ways we can exercise which are fun! We made some funny face sandwiches using various ingredients too! We really enjoyed today, especially making and eating our funny face sandwiches!!
Healthy Eating – Visit from School Nurse – Fruit Kebabs
We are really lucky to have had a special visit from our school nurse. She came in to talk to us about the importance of keeping healthy and gave us a few tips on how we can do this. She spoke about the importance of eating fruit and vegetables and even brought along some of her vegetable friends for us to play with. We really enjoyed making our fruit kebabs but the best bit was eating them! Delicious!!!!!!
Mental Awareness Week
To mark ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’ we all came to school dressed to the nines in our brightest colours. We wore clothes that made us feel happy! We also brought a special toy or object from home. During circle time, we talked about why each chosen item was special and what it means to us.
Chinese New Year
To celebrate Chinese New Year, 10G had some fun making Chinese Lanterns. We learnt how to write ‘Happy New Year’ in English and Mandarin and wrote this on our lanterns. As we were really proud of our work and wanted to show it off, we went on a walk around the school to various classes and the playground; waving our lanterns and playing musical instruments! We even had some prawn crackers and a fortune cookie as a special yummy treat! What a lovely day!
IT’S SNOWING!!!!!
Today we got on our wellies, wrapped up warm and went out to have some fun in the snow! We practised writing some tricky words and some words from our English text using powder paint.
Classification of Animals
In Year 10G, we have been learning about different classifications of animals; Mammals, Reptiles, Amphibians and Minibeasts. We have learnt lots of interesting facts about these different types of animals and even created our own minibeasts using pebbles! Take a look at our little friends living in our classroom!
Autumn Term
Autumn 2:
Different Seasons across the world.
In Geography lessons this half term, 1OG have been learning about how some countries in the world are in the same season as England at the same time but how some are in a different season. We wrote about these different seasons and pretended to be weather reporters and recorded them.
Religion:
We have been learning about the Sacrament of Baptism and went to church and listened to Father Mark tell us about what happens at a Baptism Ceremony. We even got to play the role of Mum, Dad and the Godparents!
Christmas Puppets:
In Year 10G, we have been really busy making our Christmas puppets. Have a look at some of the ones we have made. What do you think?
Autumn 1
Visit to Light Oaks Park
Today, we went on an Autumn walk to our local park to look at how things change during different seasons. We noticed that the leaves had changed colour and are beginning to fall off the trees. We even collected a selection of different leaves to use in our leaf prints in Art.
A Visit from a Puppeteer
For our first half term in Year One, we have been focusing on ‘All about me’. We have looked at how each one of us is different and unique but we are all special. In our History lessons, we have been looking at ‘Toys from the past’ and comparing these to our favourite toys. As a really exciting opportunity, we had a visit from a puppeteer! We were able to watch a Punch and Judy puppet show and learn all about how the puppet theatre works. He showed us how the theatre is put together and how the puppets are used. We loved the show and learning about how the theatre works. We can use these skills in our puppet role play theatre in the classroom.
