School Building work completed

Classroom Our New Hall

All the work has now been completed . We now have a brand new kitchen block and a bigger and much improved hall. All the junior classrooms have had a fantastic rebuild with a new library and computer area.

School Trips

Stockley Farm [click to visit]

As part of our theme on habitats and animals, classes 2, 3 & 4 paid a visit to Stockley Farm.

All the children had a fantastic day out and experienced how a modern farm is operated. Each of the children had the chance to feed the goats and lambs, and ride on the farm tractor

Year 6 trips

Our Juniors will be visiting the Marist Centre, Chester Zoo and Warwick Castle [click to vist] in June.

Wednesday Word

I am delighted to announce that school has invested in a new Diocesan initiative known as the Wednesday Word, a new, lively weekly contact between the Church and school parents and their families. Each Wednesday children will be given a leaflet at school containing quick, easy to read material based on the Sunday Gospel for the forthcoming Sunday, to take away and share with those at home, possibly at bedtime or any other time to suit individual families. This will enable children and families to reflect on the word of God in advance of the Sunday readings. Morning Prayers in school on Monday mornings will also be based around the "word" for the preceding week.

Yours Sincerely

Mr Jameson
Headteacher

Parents Questionaire - summary of returns

Thank you to everyone who completed the Parents' Questionnaire. The replies were overwhelmingly positive with many constructive ideas on areas for improvement. I would like to take this opportunity to respond to some of the points raised by your responses.

Under the "3 things which you feel are very good at St Luke's School" section, there were many positive points with the following areas receiving the most comments:

Thank you. It’s very humbling and reassuring to know that parents feel that "the standard of teachers and teaching and the happy friendly caring atmosphere around school" are strengths as we do work hard on these areas and they have a major impact on childrens' learning.

Under the "3 things which you feel need improving" section, there were far fewer suggestions although the following 4 areas received more than one comment:

As you will be aware, we have started the process of setting up a Parents Council. The purpose of this Council is to look at specific issues raised by parents such as those listed above so that we can work together on solutions. I propose to present the issues you have raised to the new Parent Council once this has been set up. Could I remind parents that an initial meeting to explain the workings of a Parent Council has been set up for Wednesday 2nd December in school at 7pm. All parents are most welcome to attend this initial meeting.

We are currently in the process of setting up a school website and it is hoped that this could be up and running before Christmas.

There were a small number of other concerns expressed but not shared by the majority. I would be happy to discuss any specific concerns not mentioned above should you ever wish to contact me.

Thank you again for taking the time and trouble to respond
